Life Cycle Testing

16,000+ Cycles Completed

A Caldwell Manufacturing test evaluated two groups of Turbo2® balances—an 11-inch, 15 lb. configuration and a 30-inch, 56 lb. configuration. Both groups exceeded 16,000 operating cycles. The report states that 4,000 cycles were required to meet the referenced AAMA specification, meaning the test continued to approximately four times that requirement.

NYCSCA Field Cycle Test

2,500 Cycles in an Installed Window

Architectural Testing, Inc. performed field cycle testing on a remediated aluminum double-hung window at a New York City school. The required criterion was no functional damage through 2,500 cycles and no disengagement of the balances from the shoes. The window passed each 500-cycle interval through the full 2,500 cycles.

Air Infiltration Test

Existing vs. Retrofitted Window Performance Independent testing performed to ASTM E783 compared an existing aluminum window with a retrofitted window. Under the test conditions, measured air leakage was 10 CFM for the original-condition sample and 2.5 CFM for the retrofit sample.
